HIRSP Out-of-State

HIRSP rates are paid to out-of-state providers for both emergency situations and scheduled services.

HIRSP members MAY be BALANCE BILLED* by out-of-state providers if they refuse to accept HIRSP payment rates (opens in new window or tab) as payment in full for the services provided.

*Balance Billed: Occurs when a provider bills a Member for some or all of the remaining charges not paid for by HIRSP, which may include those charges that are above what HIRSP would typically pay for a service or item.
